Have you ever heard about the Gunas? No, they're perhaps not Disney characters! In accordance with yoga you will find three basic qualities or powers that make up everything. They're, rajas, tamas and sattva.

Rajas is the energy of motion, change and motion. Rajas is the fuel of passion and fire. Rajasic energy can be linked to the day light hours. We obviously need energy to create energy to go effectively through-out our society and lives. Go go go, do do do, when we've too much rajasic energy as extremely busy we might seem to the outside world! Does this sound as if you? Maintaining a high amount of rajasic power leads to burn out! When rajas has gone out of harmony the mind and body are overstimulated, the mind becomes disturbed and you go through a great deal of uncontrollable feelings.

Foods that are rajasic include: hot food, fried foods, coffee / caffeinated beverages/ stimulants/ fish, eggs, chocolate, foods that are very bitter, salty, dry and wrong. Eating on the go is also considered rajasic

Tamas could be regarded as the opposite of rajas. Tamasic energy is of a state-of in-activity and inertia, heaviness and darkness. When tamas has gone out of balance your ability to reason becomes clouded and you might experience the deeper feelings including anger or greed. Tamasic energy is present during evening, In the same way there is more rajasic energy present in daylight hours. People who are very tamasic may be frustrated or seem sluggish. Generally speaking disease states are tamasic.

Examples of tamasic food include: meat, alcohol, cigarette, onions, fermented meals vinegar or strong cheese, stale food or over-ripe food, very processed food or chemically treated. Overeating is known as tamasic.

Sattva is energy that's in a situation of harmony and balance. Good emotional and mental states of intelligence and pleasure are connected with sattva. A person who was experiencing plenty of sattvic power would appear very happy. Sattvic energy is also consistent with healing states and in Ayurveda (yogas brother research) sattvic energy is actively developed. Sattvic power is most present through the moments between light and dark- in other words dusk and dawn. An individual on the path is focused on devel-oping sattva and that is why yoga asana and relaxation are traditionally conducted at today.

Foods which are sattvic include: fresh fruits, whole grains and vegetables, real juice, legumes, milk, but-ter, nuts, seeds, sprouted seeds, baby and herb teas.
